MSH Board Member Background InfoLila R Adams I'm a Medical Lab Technician (MLT, ASCP), and a Histotechnologist (HT, ASCP) with an Immunohistochemistry Qualification (QIHC, ASCP). I have worked in the medical field for over twenty-five years. I started as a MLT in Texas. My husband and I were transferred to Landstuhl, Germany where I learned histology. I worked for four years at Landstuhl Army Regional Medical Hospital. When we returned to the states I signed up and passed my HT qualification. Then the Army said “Go West” so on to Monterey, California we went. I ran an office laboratory for an internal medicine group of doctors. Hong Kong was our next stop, where I did independent study. We returned to the Washington D.C. area and I went to work for Walter Reid Medical Hospital. I transferred to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology where I took my IHC Qualification. I decided to improve my IHC skills so I went to work for Dr. Renu Virmani as a Research Technician in charge of IHC Lab. I am currently working with Dr. Virmani at CV Path in Gaithersburg, MD. We do a large number of cardiovascular immunohistochemistry projects involving multiple species (swine, mouse, rat, rabbit, etc.). I've been a MSH Board member since 1989. I've worked as Educational Chairperson for a number of Regional Meetings. I've also given lectures on Immunohistochemistry for a number of meetings. |
